Christmas is all about a bit of indulgence, spoiling yourself and your family rotten with all sorts of tasty treats, beautiful presents and delicious food. If you’re looking to really go all out this year, what about getting yourself some sturgeon caviar for the Christmas dinner table? You could certainly do a lot worse – but what exactly should you drink with this luxurious fare?
Some will tell you that you should only ever pair caviar with vodka – and, indeed, this is the way that an awful lot of people will always enjoy their roe. The two complement each other incredibly well, although you do need to make sure the vodka is served ice cold in order to bring out the flavour of the caviar to perfection. Make sure you buy a good quality brand of vodka, or you’ll be doing your caviar a disservice.
Another very popular option, naturally, is champagne – although you’d be wise to find yourself a drier bottle with a slight citrus tang to it. Again, this will really help bring the flavours of your caviar out.
If you’re having caviar with dinner, rather than as an appetiser, you can also pair it with a nice wine very successfully. Look out for a dry white wine or a dry pinot blanc, while you may also find that a chilled sherry is a good accompaniment as well.
As you can see, there are plenty of options but it’s just down to you to try out a few and see which one you prefer. In other words, you’re going to have an amazing Christmas this year!
